Kownacki helps Northern Burlington edge Ewing to end losing streak – Baseball recap

Winning pitcher Tony Kownacki tossed five shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out nine in Northern Burlington’s 2-1 win over Ewing in Columbus.

Liam Velit had an RBI single and Nick Filipponi collected two hits for Northern Burlington (3-3), which scored single runs in the second and third innings and held on to end a three-game losing streak.

Sam Simpkins tripled and scored in the sixth for Ewing (3-4), but the Blue Devils were not able to push the tying run across.
