Labor’s manufacturing push must be able to cut losses on bad bets, economist warns

Labor must be unafraid to dump underperforming schemes in its Made in Australia push if it wants to avoid the mistakes of past industry subsidy programs, a senior economist has warned.

Andrew Barker from the Committee for Economic Development of Australia says the Government’s Future Made in Australia agenda will only be successful if it focuses on innovation and emerging industries.
