Larry Emdur’s staggering Instagram admission: ‘I am a man of the people’

You’d think high-profile TV personality Larry Emdur would be a man who enjoys the finer things in life — expensive cars, fancy restaurants, designer clothing, that sort of thing.

But as a recent Instagram post has shown, The Morning Show co-host really is just an ordinary guy.

Well, sort of.

The post features a picture of Emdur on — shock horror — public transport, catching a bus as a fellow passenger (with face scribbled out) sits at the back of the bus.

“As you all know, I am a man of the people,” Emdur’s caption read.

“A few weeks ago, I caught a bus.

“The guy walked past my seat and said ‘I never fu**en thought I’d see you on a bus.’

“I said, ‘that makes fu**en two of us, mate #manofthepeople.”

But Emdur’s celebrity followers were disbelieving.

“I’m calling green screen,” Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac joked, referring to the green backdrop usually placed in the background of a film shot to add digital effects later.

My Kitchen Rules star Manu Feildel dropped five laughing face emojis, while The Chase Australia star Mara Lejins joked: “Sorry to hear that the chopper was out of service.”

“What a guy,” wrote former Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil.

“Yeah, buses rock, woop woop,” added Big Brother Australia winner Reggie Bird.

Other followers were truly shocked to think of Larry Emdur taking public transport.

“I would never think u would get on a bus either,” one fan admitted.

“Was your drink spiked?” wondered another.

“I like that you took a few weeks to recover and post about it,” wrote a third.

One follower called Emdur “the new Keanu Reeves,” referring to the Hollywood actor’s penchant for non-celebrity-like behaviour.

But others couldn’t see what was so terrible about catching a bus in the first place.

“Not really sure what’s wrong with catching a bus. Many people do it,” one fan noted.

“I caught 2 trains and 2 buses for 13 years,” added another.

“Train next, Emdur!” joked a third.

Several others made references to some of Emdur’s other popular TV shows, including The Price is Right.

“If I were the bus driver, I would have made you guess the fare, with a bit of lower/higher (banter),” one follower said.

“With the cost of living and all, a bus fare is pretty cheap as long as the price is right 😅,” joked another.

One follower thought there was a certain luxury element to riding the bus.

“That is one way to be chauffeured around,” they noted.
