Lisa McCaffrey thinks Kansas City employee behind 49ers false fire alarm

Lisa McCaffrey shared “a little insider info” about the San Francisco 49ers’ fire alarm debacle, when players were woken up abruptly by a false alarm at their Las Vegas hotel Thursday morning.

Lisa — the mother of 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, who is preparing to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 2024 on Sunday — explained why she believed it was “an inside job” at the team hotel.

The 49ers and the Chiefs are staying at hotels on the outskirts of Sin City before the Big Game is played in Las Vegas for the first time on Feb. 11.

“A little insider info, they did have the alarm pulled at 6 a.m. at the hotel,” Lisa said during the latest installment of her and Ashley Adamson’s “Your Mom” podcast, which was filmed live from radio row Thursday at Super Bowl 2024.

“One hundred percent [it was an inside job] because there was no emergency supposedly … [it went off] for 25 minutes,” Lisa said.

“Who do you think did it? Should we name names?” Adamson asked, to which Lisa replied: “I don’t know … Their hotel is big-time lockdown, so I don’t think it was a fan infiltrating. I bet it was maybe an employee from Kansas City.”

That’s when Adamson joked: “We’re going to get the employee list at every hotel and bring them on the podcast.”

Lisa quipped: “Actually that’s kind of a good idea. Where are the Chiefs staying? I’m kidding, I would never… Kudos to them, that’s smart.”

Adamson chimed in, “I bet it was one of the moms,” and Lisa replied: “Good for her, she’s smart.”

The engineers at the hotel said it was a false alarm and that nobody was forced to evacuate, according to ESPN.

Later that night, Lisa and her family, along with McCaffrey’s fiancée Olivia Culpo attended NFL Honors, where the All-Pro running back was named AP Offensive Player of the Year.

McCaffrey was also suspicious of the situation.

“I think there’s no way it’s random,” he said Thursday during players’ final meeting with the media before Sunday’s game. “It’s part of it. It’s just more wood thrown on the fire.”

Star defensive end Nick Bosa agreed with McCaffrey, but explained this wasn’t the first time something of the sort has gone on before the Super Bowl.

“I’m sure somebody did it,” Bosa said. “It kind of reminded me of Philly when they had this construction going on outside. It was early in the morning and they were like demolishing a bridge right outside of our hotel. We haven’t had the best luck. But no excuses.”

Lisa’s comments came after she made headlines last week talking about the pricey suites at Super Bowl 58 and noting that the McCaffrey family can’t afford a private box.

When Culpo tried to purchase a suite, McCaffrey put a stop to it and said he won’t have his loved ones pay to watch him play.

The 49ers have dealt with a number of things while preparing for Super Bowl 2024.

The 49ers weren’t happy with the field conditions of the practice fields at UNLV this week, and explained that the surface — which is sod laid over an artificial surface, per ESPN — is softer than standard.

Super Bowl 2024 kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
