James Stewart admits going too hard at the Logies afterparties could be career-ending.
The Home & Away star admits there have been a few nights over the years that he wants to keep behind closed doors.
The 47-year-old and his ex, Jessica Marais, were the toast of the red carpet back in their Packed To The Rafters heyday.
“Growing up I had a few Logies that were very memorable,” he confessed.
“There are always closed doors. Some parties behind closed doors are meant for a reason.”
In some choice advice for new stars ready to cut loose on the VIP circuit, the actor who plays Summer Bay’s Justin Morgan said getting too smashed could cost people an acting job.
“I had a really great time and made a whole new bunch of mates and then in your 30 you’ll have one glass of wine and then a glass of water,” the actor, who raised his and Marais’ 11-year-old daughter Scout, recalled.
“The foyer is going to be filled with a bunch of potential people who are going to hire you in the future. It’s that one night. You got to keep stringing sentences together and don’t make a fool of yourself. If you have to do the Macarena, do it for two seconds and shake hands, look them in the eye and be able to walk into the audition room next week. That’s important.”
Despite being a seasoned pro, stepping out for his big night still spooks him.
“I may not seem so but I am a bit of an introvert,” Stewart said.
“Even getting out of the car and getting on the red carpet. What do I do? I take the lead from some of the guys that have been doing this a while.
“If you watch and listen enough you learn.”
