Man charged with manslaughter over partner’s heroin death

A man has been charged with manslaughter after his partner died from a heroin overdose.

ACT Police detectives arrested a 40-year-old Kambah man on Monday, charging him over the death that occurred two years ago.

Emergency services rushed to a Florey residence at 8:10pm on August 19 2021 after hearing reports of a woman who had collapsed inside a Florey residence after being injected with heroin.

Paramedics gave the woman CPR in an attempt to revive her before taking her to Northside Canberra Hospital for further treatment.

Despite efforts to save her, she was declared dead in hospital.

Police allege that the woman was injected with the heroin by her partner.

He has been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of administering a declared substance without authorisation and faced ACT Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.
