AFL star Kysaiah Pickett and his partner Ardu Cubillo have welcomed their first child into the world.
The 22-year-old Melbourne Demons player took to Instagram at the weekend with a heartwarming post to announce the arrival of his daughter.
The post, which featured a photo of the pair smiling, was captioned “19.04.24. The best day of our lives”.
Friends and fans took to the comment section overjoyed at the special news for the young couple.
Fellow Melbourne player Christian Petracca left two heart emojis.
“Welcome, little one. You’ve chosen awesome parents,” one fan said.
Melbourne midfielder Jack Viney’s wife Charlotte wished the family well.
“The best!!! Congratulations guys! 🤍🤍🤍 cannot wait to meet her!”
Sydney Swan star Brodie Grundy also congratulated the happy couple.
Pickett, known as Kozzy, hinted at his new dad duties during Melbourne’s round seven win over Richmond, making a baby cradling gesture after he scored.
Pickett had more good news earlier this year when he signed a fresh contract with the Demons.
He signed a four-year contract with the club he helped steer to the 2021 premiership.
Since first starring for the Dees in 2020, Pickett has scored 85 goals in 125 games and was an AFL Rising Star nominee in his debut season.
After Melbourne’s 2021 grand final win, he dedicated his premiership medal to two family members who died that year.
“My mum and my pop passed away, so basically everything I do is for them and for my family,” he said after the match.
Pickett is the nephew of former Demons players Neville Jetta and Byron Pickett.
