The Election Commission directed social media platform X to remove an animated video posted by the BJP Karnataka handle with ‘immediate effect’, citing its violation of the existing legal framework.The said video posted on social media features animated characters of (Congress leader) Rahul Gandhi and (Chief Minister) Siddaramaiah. In the clip, the SC, ST and OBC community are portrayed as “eggs” in a nest and it also suggested Rahul Gandhi planting a big egg labelled as Muslim community. It is projected as though funds are being fed to the chick depicting the Muslim community, which then kicks out SC, ST and OBC communities.
EC also expressed serious concern over the failure to remove an “objectionable post” by BJP Karnataka on X platform, despite receiving a legally valid letter from the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, which also included an FIR regarding the matter.
