NBA double-double bettor makes $33K off $1 wager

How do you turn $1 into tens of thousands? Just hit on a 7-part, double-double parlay.

A bettor on FanDuel Sportsbook made nearly $33,000 on a $1 bet Friday by virtue of parlaying doubles-doubles for seven different players during the night’s NBA action.

All seven players cashed a double-double despite having plus-odds to do so.

The trio of Clint Capela, Chris Paul and Lauri Markkanen were the most likely picks to click, according to oddsmakers, with each having +200 odds or better to have a double-double.

But the FanDuel bettor had several more bold picks.

The winning bettor also included Raptors wing Scottie Barnes and Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, who were both +460 to record a double-double.

Nets guard Ben Simmons and Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren, who sat at +600, were the biggest long shots in the parlay.

The bettor had a few very near misses as Friday’s play went on.

Paul, who finished with 10 points and 12 assists, only got a double-double after scoring six of his 10 points during the fourth quarter during Golden State’s win against the Kings.

Betting on the NBA?

Simmons finished with exactly 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Three of those boards came late in the fourth quarter.

Wembanyama needed overtime to get his double-double.

After finishing the fourth quarter with nine rebounds, the seven-foot-four Frenchman pulled down three more during extra time.

The big bet isn’t the only massive parlay to hit during the 2023-24 NBA season’s early going.

On Wednesday, a DraftKings Sportsbook bettor cashed an multi-sport, 18-part parlay after the Boston Celtics prevailed over the New York Knicks.
