NCC bestows honorary Colonel rank to IPU VC Dr Verma

NEW DELHI: National Cadet Corps (NCC) has conferred an honorary Colonel rank to IP University Vice Chancellor Padmashri Prof.(Dr.) Mahesh Verma.

The Deputy Director General of Delhi Directorate of NCC Brigadier Atul Bamzai conferred the honorary rank of Colonel to the IPU Vice-Chancellor; handed over the concerned gazette notification and the ceremonial baton to him at a special function organised at the Dwarka campus of the University here today.
NCC cadets of the University gave a ceremonial Guard of Honour to the Vice Chancellor on the occasion.

This honorary rank of Colonel is given by the NCC to top serving officers of the country to recognise their outstanding social services. The IPU Vice Chancellor has been given this coveted rank of Colonel by the NCC to acknowledge his outstanding contribution to the promotion of NCC at campus schools as well as more than a hundred affiliated institutes of the University.
Reminiscing about his association with NCC, the Vice Chancellor said, it dates back to his student days. “I feel enriched with the values of discipline and service to the nation that this organisation inculcates in all NCC cadets. It is an honour for me to get this rank bestowed by the Ministry of Defence,” added the Vice Chancellor.
