The Geely and Mercedes-Benz co-owned carmaker has confirmed the series production version of this concept car will be revealed in the second half of this year.

The Smart #5 will the brand’s largest vehicle ever and slot above the existing #1 and #3 crossovers.

This particular concept is claimed to offer all-wheel drive and is fed by a battery pack with a nominal capacity over 100kWh. It has a claimed range of more than 550km according to WLTP testing.

There’s an 800V electrical architecture allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 15 minutes.

Outside, the Concept #5 has a boxy, upright silhouette similar to the #1. Like a number of concepts it has no B-pillar and there are coach rear doors. It’s unclear if this will carry over to the production model.

Other off-road-focused features include front and rear skid plates with a hidden integrated winch and folding rear step for roof access, a roof-mounted light bar, large all-terrain tyres, illuminated side steps, and a roof rack, among others.

Inside the Concept #5 is a four-seater with a centre console running down the middle of the cabin.

There are three OLED displays up front spanning the width of the dashboard that are powered by a high-performance AMD V2000 chip. Drivers can interact with these screens with a virtual in-car assistant.

Other interior features include ambient lighting, portable speaker, and zero-gravity front passenger seat.

At this stage it’s unlikely the Smart #5 will be offered in Australia given neither the #1 or #3 are available locally. Smart left the Australian market in 2015.
