One charged, one in custody, after man dead in stabbing at home in Townsville’s Railway Estate

One person has been charged while another is in custody after a man was killed in a stabbing at a Townsville home last week.

The 39-year-old Aurukun man died at the scene of the altercation in Railway Estate about 4.50am on Wednesday.

Police and paramedics tried to resuscitate the man, but he died from his critical injuries.

Police said last week they believed the attacker was known to the man, with a suspect identified at the time but unable to be located.

The man was not a resident of the home he died at.

Early investigations indicate the altercation was over “money that may have been owed”, Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said.

Other people in the home called triple-0.

The weapon involved in the attack has not been found, and Shepherd would not detail the victim’s injuries.

Charges laid

A 32-year-old Jensen woman was taken into custody on Monday.

She has been charged with one count each of murder, entering a dwelling with intent at night in company, threatening violence and deprivation of liberty.

She was remanded in custody and is due to re-appear at Townsville Magistrates Court on October 13.

A 37-year-old Beach Holm man was also taken into custody on Tuesday and is assisting police with their investigations.
