Airports are not often synonymous with live music and booze, but Perth Airport is raising the bar after it welcomed Fremantle’s Otherside Brewing Co to Terminal 2 last week.
Decked out with art installations which showcase WA artists, Otherside Brew Lounge — which opened in partnership with hospitality group Delaware North — offers domestic travellers locally brewed craft beer, live sports broadcast, a locally sourced menu and regular live music gigs.
Frequent flyers will also be able to unlock rewards through Brew Lounge’s ‘Flying Tycoons’ membership program, which offers regulars discounts and the option to have their names printed across the venue.
Otherside managing director James Legge said he wanted to provide flyers and regional tourists with an “unlikely” pre-flight experience.
“We are very excited to see this project come to fruition and for the gates to open to this unique experience for WA travellers,” he said.
“With its impressive food and beverage offering, table service model and representation of WA arts and culture, the Brew Lounge is an exciting new concept in aviation hospitality.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone in to sample our craft beers, the outstanding restaurant quality menu and, of course, some live music.”
Otherside Brewing was founded by a “bunch of music industry mates who love good beer without the BS” follows an ecommerce model. The Brew Lounge is its first physical venue.
Perth Airport chief commercial and aviation officer Kate Holsgrove said since opening more than 10 years ago, Terminal 2 had experienced more than a 50 per cent increase in passenger numbers.
“With passenger numbers continuing to grow, we wanted to collaborate with a partner that would deliver a new, high-quality food and beverage option for our regional customers,” Ms Holsgrove said.
“The Otherside Brew Lounge provides a contemporary food and beverage hub in T2, offering a unique pre-flight venue with a dynamic personality and quality local craft beers on tap.”
