Parkerville Tavern announces policy update to combat no-shows from customers

A beloved pub in the Perth Hills has put its foot down with a controversial change of policy for the new year in response to a spate of appalling customer behaviour.

The Parkerville Tavern — more affectionately known as “the Parky” — has introduced a no-show policy for bookings at their venue.

The policy, which has recently seen variations implemented at multiple venues, is designed to combat the rising trend of customers who reserve tables during peak hospitality hours but fail to show up or cancel ahead of time.

While announcing the updated policy in a post to their Facebook page, the popular pub apologized and explained the need for safeguards against the “disruptive and disappointing” habit.

“POV: it’s one of your busiest days, you’ve had to turn people away and one of your young crew members have just bared the brunt of an angry customer being told they’ll have to wait for a table – and a group of 24 don’t turn up,” the post said.

It went on to say the venue had experienced no-shows from a group of 45, two groups of 30, and a group of 20 — all within the same week before Christmas.

“Because of this on-going problem with no-shows, we have made the decision to introduce a no show policy for groups of 9 or more,” the post said.

The new policy will require large group bookings to provide the tavern with a card pre-authorization.

“Nothing will be debited from your card when making the booking,” the Parky assured their customers.

“But if you don’t show up, or you haven’t given us at least 24 hours’ notice that you’re not coming, you will be charged a fee of $10 per head booked.”
