Perth Weather: RAC WA receives millions of dollars in insurance claims after severe cold front on Wednesday

Damaging storms which tore through Perth on Wednesday night have already lead to millions of dollars in insurance claims, the RAC has revealed.

Less than two days after the storms, the RAC has already received more than 1400 insurance claims with an estimated cost of over $3 million in damages.

A spokeswoman for the insurer said the number was expected to increase over the coming days.

Due to the wind gusts, which clocked in at nearly 130km/h, 60 per cent of the claims recorded so far pertain to damaged fences.

As the weather rolled in, SES crews responded to over 70 jobs across the city — 60 per cent of those across the northern suburbs.

Unsecured trampolines and patio fences were strewn across the city.
