Pinjarra Bowling and Recreation Club secure funding for $1.2 million shade canopy upgrade

Pinjarra bowls club members will soon be able to enjoy the game in even the sunniest weather thanks to funding for a new shade canopy.

The Pinjarra Bowling and Recreation Club received $401,012 from the State Government to go towards a new shade canopy, along with a donation of $500,000 from club patron Graham Riley.

The sun protection will cost more than $1.2 million.

The State Government funding was part of the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund, which has seen $20 million split between 24 projects in clubs and local governments.

Funding has gone to new changerooms and facilities for sports, including netball, tennis, golf, BMX and swimming.

Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke said the funding was “fantastic news”.

“This is fantastic news for the members of Pinjarra Bowling and Recreation Club, who have been asking for a shade canopy for a number of years now,” she said.

“The canopy over A Green will give them respite from the sun and allow them to play year round at all hours of the day.”
