Police appeal for help in finding teen missing from tourist hotspot

Police are urgently searching for a teenage girl who went missing while travelling on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The 17-year-old was last seen by her family on Saturday while in Maroochydore, about 100km north of Brisbane.

In a statement, Queensland police said the teen was not familiar with the Sunshine Coast area where she went missing.

They further revealed police were not aware of how the 17-year-old had been travelling around the popular tourist area.

The teen is described as being 165cm tall, with a tanned complexion, long dark hair and a slim build.

She was last seen wearing a grey, hooded jumper over a black shirt and tracksuit pants.

Police and the girl’s family hold concerns for her welfare as her disappearance is out of character.

Officers are now appealing for the girl, or anyone with information regarding her whereabouts, to contact them.

Anyone with information can contact police on PoliceLink or Crimestoppers.
