Products from Romper & Co recalled over safety concerns

A number of products from a popular Melbourne children’s retailer are being recalled over safety concerns.

Product Safety Australia issued the recall for various rattles and teethers from Romper & Co, based in South Yarra.

It has also recalled a children’s bamboo pyjama set and fingerless glove mittens, as well as teddy and vogue sunglasses from Romper & Co.

Product Safety Australia said the products did not meet the mandatory standards for sale in Australia.

The retailer’s wooden barbell rattle, acorn rattan rattle, egg shakers, wooden toy maracas and 360 teether are the toys included in the recall.

Babies were are risk of “choking, suffocation or death” if they put small or dislodged parts of the toys in their mouth, the notice said.

And the recalled pyjamas leave children at risk of serious burns if the fabric was exposed to heat or fire.

Product Safety Australia said the sunglasses did not have the correct UV labelling and children may be at risk of “serious eye damage or vision impairment” if used incorrectly.

Romper & Co sells the products in-store, online and supplies them to a number of other retailers across Australia.

Consumers with any of the recalled products are being advised stop using them immediately and return them to the place of purchase or contact Romper & Co directly.

Romper & Co is closing down on May 31.
