Qantas to replace lighter food options with an expanded hot food menu

Qantas customers are set to enjoy a new culinary experience, with the national carrier expanding its domestic onboard food service to include more hot items.

Ranging from gourmet breakfast burgers to cauliflower bites and Mediterranean pizza, the new options will replace current lighter options such as cheese and crackers.

The menu items will be available for customers travelling in economy on domestic flights longer than two hours.

The new items — including scrambled egg brioche with tomato relish, ciabatta roll with Portuguese chicken and mango lime jam, carrot and pumpkin fritters and artisanal beef sausage rolls — will become available within coming weeks.

The onboard tea and coffee service will also be extended into afternoon flights until 4pm.

Weis ice cream bars will also be offered on domestic flights longer than three and a half hours such as Sydney to Perth.

The menu changes are in response to customer feedback, the airline said.

Qantas customers travelling on the domestic network are offered complimentary food and beverage, baggage and onboard Wi-Fi.

“These hot menu items have been created using quality Australian ingredients and we’re pleased to be rolling out a wider range of choice for customers travelling across our domestic network,” Qantas executive manager of product and service Phil Capps said.

“We are always adjusting our menu in response to customer feedback and to enhance our inflight dining experience.”
