Queen Mary of Denmark dazzled on her first state visit to Norway with King Frederik. This marked a significant milestone since his accession.
On 14 May, the 52-year-old queen sparkled in the historic Pearl Poire Tiara.
QUEEN MARY’S TIARA
This piece, worn by Danish queens since the 1800s was last seen on Queen Margrethe in January, shortly before her abdication.
According to People, Queen Mary’s choice to debut this tiara is noteworthy.
The Pearl Poire Tiara is part of a parure, a matching set of jewels.
It includes pearl earrings and a large diamond and pearl cluster brooch.
She used the brooch to secure the sash of the Order of St. Olav on her periwinkle gown.
QUEEN MARY’S STYLE DETAILS
This added a regal touch to her ensemble for the banquet King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway hosted at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
Adding to the elegance of the evening, Queen Mary reworked an old gown, according to The Court Jeweller.
Her periwinkle dress appeared to be a revamped version of the one she wore to Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden’s wedding in 2015.
The updated design featured a semi-sheer fabric draped over the bodice. This created delicate sleeves.

The royal couple’s visit to Norway is part of a series of state visits to strengthen ties between the Nordic monarchies.
Their itinerary follows a recent trip to Sweden.
The Norwegian visit has special significance due to the close personal connections between the two royal families, according to the Royal Central.
King Frederik was best man at Crown Prince Haakon’s wedding in 2001, and he is godfather to Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
Similarly, the Crown Prince and Princess of Norway are godparents to Frederik and Mary’s firstborn, Crown Prince Christian.
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
During the gala dinner, King Harald, 87, paid tribute to Frederik and Queen Mary’s 20th wedding anniversary.
“Dear Mary, you took on a big task when you went and fell in love with this sporty Dane,” he remarked.
This highlighted their remarkable love story.
The couple met during the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
Mary Donaldson, then an Australian advertising executive, struck up a conversation with “Fred” without realising he was the Prince of Denmark.
Their love story is well-known.
ROYAL FAMILY
Queen Mary and her husband than had a long-distance relationship before getting engaged and marrying at Copenhagen Cathedral on 14 May 2004.
They now have four children: Crown Prince Christian, 18, Princess Isabella, 17, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, 13.
King Harald, noting the significance of the day, added, “Just today the two of you have been married for 20 years — surely that deserves a round of applause?
We think it’s very nice that you chose to celebrate your wedding anniversary here with us tonight!”
