Reid Highway: Person caught on video driving extremely dangerously on Australia Day

A Perth driver has been caught red-handed driving extremely dangerously on a busy highway, terrifying others on the road.

The driver’s concerning antics on Australia Day were captured in two videos by another driver who followed the grey Subaru for at least 25 minutes.

The first shocking video shows the reckless driver heading southeast in the right lane of Reid Highway with their hazards on constantly, seemingly unable to drive in a straight line for more than a few seconds.

The video gets more serious as the car drives centimetres from the grey barrier on the side of the road and the next second, the Subaru crashes into the barrier.

It seems to almost bounce off the barrier, swerving quickly in the other direction however this close call does not seem to deter the driver.

In the second video, the car continues to swerve, at one point getting perilously close to two white cars in front and almost careening into an L-plater in the adjacent lane.

The next vehicle it comes dangerously close to crashing into is a ute pulling a trailer.

The concerned Perth driver who captured the videos first noticed the suspicious behaviour at 4pm on Friday.

They joked, “This guy enjoyed his Australia Day. Driving along Reid Hwy bouncing off the guard rails.”

The driver has since filed an online report after they said they were frustrated with police over the phone.

“Tried to call (the police) yesterday while it was happening but getting bounced around from 000 to 131444 for 25 mins while following this guy and them not finding it important was ridiculous.”

WA Police have been contacted for comment.
