Mandurah’s newest burger outlet is dishing up a side of New Year’s fireworks as an opening special.
Retro beach-vibes diner Betty’s Burgers, which hails from Queensland but is fast emerging across Perth, opened at the Mandurah foreshore last weekend.
On New Year’s Eve the new store — opposite the Brighton Hotel on Mandurah Terrace — will stay open to midnight and says it will have an exclusive viewing location for customers to enjoy Mandurah’s fireworks celebrations, which explode into the sky at both 9pm and midnight.
Elsewhere on the waterfront, Murphy’s Irish Pub will transform into Casina De Monte Carlo, with blackjack and roulette from 10.30pm to 1.30am and party band Robo Mosquito starting up from 9pm.
The Peninsula will have free entry for circus-themed entertainment and live jazz music, with a $99 three-course meal available.
The Brighton has party band Flyte and $10 early bird tickets and Stiller’s Distillery will be open until 2am, with free entry and drinks packages available.
The Bridge garden bar has Aussie music from James Walker & Cool World The Band from 7.30pm — entry is free but bookings are recommended.
Bar Therapy’s Ultimate Party has a UB40 tribute and a two-hour drinks package for $49, while Cobbers Tavern is putting on family friendly entertainment and buses for its diners to get to either of the fireworks shows.
Mandurah Terrace will be closed to cars from 7pm as thousands descend on the precinct for the evening celebrations. Closures also affect the waterfront ends of Smart Street, Tuckey Street and Gibson Street.
The City of Mandurah’s farewell to 2023 will start earlier in the day, with carnival rides along the eastern foreshore.
The foreshore remains one of the best vantage points for the fireworks, along with Stingray Point, Henry Sutton Grove and the pedestrian walkway on the Mandurah bridge.
Revellers are allowed to set up picnic rugs and deck chairs in the public viewing areas but cannot bring alcohol or pets.
Mandurah’s Betty’s Burgers will become the chain’s only WA offering outside of Perth’s CBD and northern suburbs when it opens Saturday.
In October the retro beach-inspired burger chain — which opened its first diner in Noosa on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast nine years ago— hosted a “dive-in” pop-up beach cinema on Scarborough Beach to celebrate the launch of its second WA outlet.
That was quickly followed by its third restaurant at Whitford City Shopping Centre in November.
Mandurah is Betty’s Burgers fourth venue in WA, with the original Perth CBD store operating in Forrest Chase.
