Royal clothing designer says William and Kate are ‘going through hell’ amid princess’ cancer battle

A children’s clothing designer close to the Royal family has revealed the sad emotional state of William and Kate amid the princess’ cancer battle.

Amaia Arrieta, a Spanish mother of three, said the couple are “going through hell” as they maintain a brave face for their children, according to UK’s Telegraph.

Responsible for outfits worn by children Louis, Charlotte, and George, the designer offered a glimpse into the family’s private struggle.

“I’m heartbroken at the moment, I think they are going through hell,” she said. “I hope they will be back. It’s really personal.”

Shortly after her friend’s diagnosis, the designer posted a message of support from the brand’s Instagram page.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Princess of Wales and her family as she bravely faces cancer and undergoes preventive chemotherapy,” she captioned the post.

“We stand in solidarity with her, offering our support, strength, and unwavering hope for her well-being and recovery. 🤍”

Ms Arrieta has lived in London for 20 years and left a career in finance to found her label Amaia in 2004.

Her venture into children’s clothing design was born out of a niche she noticed wasn’t being catered for in the UK city.

“When I was expecting my first child, I started to look for baby clothes, excited by this new adventure. I soon realised that beautiful, high quality, classic but reasonably priced outfits like in Spain were impossible to get in London!” her website states.

“I truly thought there was a need for these beautifully handmade pieces to be shared with the whole world.”

Dedicated to creating pieces that are “elegant, refined, joyful and timeless”, Ms Arrieta’s designs resonated with Princess Kate.

The 42-year-old mother and her nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo have gone to Amaia designs since George was an infant, according to Daily Mail.

First spotting the royals wearing her outfits in 2014, she said the recognition brings her “so much pride”.

Recalling the sight of the Prince George’s knee-high socks and Amaia shorts, she said, “That was a huge moment because they had been coming to us but you never know if they’ll actually wear it”.

Ms Arrieta has since had the pleasure of dressing the young royals for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, at Christmas time, for official photographs, and various events throughout the calendar.

Perhaps the most sighed outfit was that of Princess Charlotte whose Amaia skirt featured in the controversial recent Mother’s Day snap.

Kate later revealed the image — which sparked hysteria for its odd editing — was the result of her botched attempt to touch-up the image.
