Sarna seeks NCM chairman’s attention towards ‘collapsing’ Sikh educational institutions in Delhi

Jalandhar: Former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Paramjit Singh Sarna has written a letter to National Commission for Minorities chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura to turn his attention towards collapsing Sikh educational institutions in Delhi, which were once ‘pillars of education and cultural preservation’.
“It is disheartening to witness the deterioration of heritage Sikh institutions in Delhi, which were once pillars of education and cultural preservation. The Sikh schools affiliated with the DSGMC have tragically collapsed and face the imminent threat of de-recognition. I implore you, as the Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities, to lend your voice to express concern over this unfortunate decline,” Sarna wrote in his letter to Lalpura.

Sarna has written the letter when Lalpura has recently commented on a ‘over-priced’ property purchase by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbadhak Committee and has even sought a report from Punjab government about it.
“Your ability to discern the SGPC’s actions with great precision is truly commendable, but I am perplexed by your reluctance to address the elephant in the room – the bankruptcy of the DSGMC and the collapse of Sikh educational institutions under its administration,” he has written.
“While you express deep concern about the SGPC’s property purchases, I must challenge you to focus your gaze on the severe debt burden of 330-plus crore that has befallen the DSGMC under the leadership of Harmeet Singh Kalka and his de-facto boss M S Sirsa. The apparent financial ruin of the DSGMC, managed by individuals known for their loyalty to the Bharatiya Janata Party, also merits your attention and scrutiny,” Sarna has asked the NCM chairman.
