Schalick/Cumberland had four individual champions to take the team title at the 2023 Allen Clipper Classic hosted by Clayton.
Schalick/Cumberland scored 157 points, while Haddon Height finished in second with 92 points, and the hosting Clipper finished third with 92 points.
Caleb Jenkins pinned his way through the 106-pound bracket and defeated Haddon Heights’ Aniello Napolitano in the championship bout. Luke Silva earned the 126-pound crown with an 11-0 major over Haddon Heights’ Ben Alexander. Ricky Watt pinned Oakcrest’s Ryan Monroe in the 157-pound final. Jake Magonagle edged out an 11-5 decision over Sterling’s Rene Camacho to claim the 175-pound title, and at 215 Ronald Piernikoski took a 3-1 decision over Oakcrest’s Jose Anaya in his bracket’s championship bout.
Penns Grove’s Anthony Brown was named Most Outstanding Wrestler after taking an 11-10 overtime win over Riverside’s Eduardo Oliveria in the 150-pound final.
The hosting Clippers had three champions. Colby Carr took a 12-3 major over Oakcrest’s’ Andrew Smith in the 165-pound final, Shawn McKellick pinned Lindenwold’s Brandon Caro for the 144-pound title, and Conrad Clayton defeated Masen Cruz (Cedar Creek) via pin at 132.
Sterling’s Nico Gellien (285), Cedar Creek’s Aamir Dunbar (190), Haddon Height’s Dominic Azzari (138), Penns Groves’ Devine Arce (120), and Haddon Height’s Cole Dennings (113) also won titles.
