Shaquille O’Neal took issue with NFL legend Shannon Sharpe claiming he was jealous of Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic winning another MVP award.
The NBA on Wednesday announced that Jokic was the 2023-24 MVP. With the win, Jokic became just the ninth three-time MVP in league history. Shortly after that announcement, Jokic appeared on Inside the NBA for a live interview.
There, O’Neal admitted to Jokic that he felt Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should have won the award instead of him.

On Sharpe’s podcast Nightcap, he claimed O’Neal was jealous of Jokic. Though O’Neal is a four-time champion and a three-time NBA Finals MVP, he won just won regular season MVP award.
After seeing Sharpe’s assessment of him, O’Neal took to Instagram to call him out.
“You took me sticking up for [Gilgeous-Alexander] as jealousy??” O’Neal said. “Shows how smart you are and how you say anything to get clicks. So here’s some click bait for you. If you ain’t ranked in the top ten in your profession, then you can’t speak on me. Don’t forget I know what you did to get where you at. Me jealous lol sounds like you jealous. I know you tryna stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. We don’t believe you. You need more people and in case you forgot. [Four] rings three finals MVP top 50 and top 75. Google me. And to [be] quite frank all this new success you got, you still under me.”
