- Skoda Elroq shows off its split-headlight face ahead of fall 2024 debut

Skoda has dropped the first image of its upcoming Elroq, giving us a sneak look at a face that will be rolled out across the brand’s entire lineup in the coming years.

The small electric SUV will be launched this autumn and is the first Skoda to get the Czech company’s new Modern Solid design language that ushers in a more purposeful look. A key part of the new philosophy is the “Tech-Deck” face, a flatter, wider interpretation of the Skoda grille that we previously saw on the 2022 Vision 7S concept.

Another new design feature we can expect to see on upcoming Skodas is the brand’s name picked out in letters on the leading edge of the hood, Range Rover-style. It’s not yet clear whether all future models will also have the split-headlight treatment (incorporating matrix LED lamps) employed by the Elroq.

Roughly the same size as the Skoda Karoq combustion EV that’s been available in Europe since 2017, the 4,500 mm-long (177 inches) Elroq rides on the VW Group’s MEB platform, meaning it will only be available as an EV. The architecture can accommodate a dual-motor, all-wheel drive configuration, but even if Skoda does make AWD available, almost all buyers will go for the cheaper single motor option.
The Elroq is one of no less than six new EVs Skoda plans to introduce before the end of 2026. That program will massively expand the brand’s EV portfolio, which currently only consists of two models, the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe.
The Enyaqs will receive a facelift to give them a hint of the Modern Solid design language in 2025, the same year Skoda starts selling version of VW’s ID2.all, a €25,000 ($27k), 4,100 mm (161 inches) subcompact SUV called Epiq, that has already been previewed and gives us an idea of what the Elroq might look like when it’s fully revealed later this year.
The Epiq and facelifted Enyaqys will then be followed a year later by a “Combi” electric wagon and seven-seat “Space” SUV based on the Vision 7S.
