The breakdown of negotiations with the European Union may, in the end, be the best outcome for farmers and Australia as a whole.

Don’t get me wrong — I am one of the most passionate advocates for free trade in the Parliament. Trade makes us all wealthier and more productive. Australia is a trading nation and WA is a trading state. Whether it is agriculture, iron ore, gas, rare minerals or gold, WA cannot ever consume all that we produce, so we must sell it around the world.
