KUWAIT CITY, May 1: The Young Players Program, launched by Special Olympics Kuwait, welcomes 75 male and female players from 8 educational institutions. Spanning 8 weeks, this initiative is designed to impart sports training and skills to children aged 2 to 7, including those with and without mental disabilities. The aim is to prepare them for future participation in private Olympic competitions once they reach 8 years of age.
Overseen by Mustafa Hassouna, Sports Officer, and Linda Jaber, Special Olympics Initiatives Officer, the program underscores the significance of introducing children to sports from an early age. Recognizing its profound impact on physical and psychological well-being, the emphasis lies on instilling a love for sports in young minds.
The curriculum focuses on teaching fundamental sports skills like running, kicking, and throwing, while also nurturing essential motor, social, and educational abilities. Through interactive sessions, children develop physical fitness and learn teamwork and socialization, fostering a holistic approach to their growth.
Furthermore, the program provides a platform for families, teachers, and caregivers to actively engage with children, fostering a supportive environment conducive to learning and enjoyment.
