Stefano Tonchi and Sharon Waxman launch TheWrapBook

In conjunction with the Frieze LA festival from February 29 to March 3, TheWrap, the entertainment and media business multiplatform founded by Sharon Waxman in 2009, is launching a new cinematic print collection celebrating the art of entertainment on March 10.

TheWrapBook, scheduled to come out twice a year, features a cross-section of artists, filmmakers and writers, including photographer Catherine Opie, filmmaker Martin Scorsese, artist Richard Phillips and essays by feminist author Salamishah Tillet and screenwriter Joe Eszterhas. Sandra Hüller, actress in the film ‘Anatomy of a Fall’, Ava DuVernay, Barry Keoghan, Margot Robbie, Bradley Cooper, Cillian Murphy, Todd Haynes and many others will also be part of the first issue.

“The convergence of entertainment with fashion and luxury has been happening on a larger scale and quicker pace than ever before,” said Waxman, “And we wanted to capture that spirit of collaboration in an homage to the year in cinema. To create that vision, we were delighted to collaborate with Stefano Tonchi, who has been bringing those threads together, including the art world, for his entire career.”

Tonchi is currently editorial director of Palmer, a title dedicated to Palm Beach, Florida, and was formerly consulting chief creative at L’Officiel from 2020 to 2021. He also served as editor-in-chief of W Magazine, which he joined after holding the same position at T: The New York Times Style Magazine. The Italian-born journalist also worked as fashion director for Esquire and creative director for J.Crew and was editor and then fashion director of L’Uomo Vogue in the late 80s.

“Collectible print is having a renaissance as luxury brands want to engage with elevated niche audiences and offer in-depth experiences,” shared Tonchi. “I believe there is a magic opportunity for an art publication at the intersection of luxury and entertainment focused on Los Angeles.”

TheWrapBook is the cornerstone of WrapStyle, a multi-platform destination for art, style and entertainment enthusiasts in Los Angeles and beyond. TheWrapBook will be launched concurrently with the new WrapStyle vertical across digital, social and event platforms.

TheWrap will celebrate the launch of TheWrapBook at The Roof at The West Hollywood Edition, in Los Angeles during Frieze LA.

“This invite-only event will be a gathering of luminaries from the art, entertainment, and fashion worlds to toast to this exciting new venture,” said TheWrapBook team.
