Sunrise star Edwina Bartholomew’s ambitious renovation project has run into some issues, as heavy rainfall in NSW continues.
The wet weather has led to some leaks being found in the heritage-listed hotel she and husband Neil Varcoe are refurbishing in Carcoar, in the state’s Central West.

The property, Saltash Farm, is undergoing a complete transformation, with Varcoe working full-time on the project as the Sunrise star commutes between Carcoar and Sydney.
In a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, the couple updated followers from a hallway of their property — with Eddy holding a bowl filled with rain water.
“Reality has set in, along with the rain,” Eddy said.
“The place is literally falling apart. There is a gigantic hole in this skylight above that we discovered during a storm.
“So slowly slowly we have been able to begin some demolition inside, nothing structural, but it’s a start.”
Eddy asked her husband if he thought morale was taking a hit, to which he responded: “I’m still feeling pretty good”.
The TV presenter said she was “a little nervous, to be honest”.
“We are a little worried about the cost, about the structure, about the project in general,” she said.
In a caption on the Instagram post, Eddy said: “The weather is wreaking havoc on our building with a leak in the main skylight and a couple of windows lost to hail.
“But when it rains… seek shelter elsewhere.”
Eddy said that, for inspiration, she and Varcoe had visited another couple who were undergoing a heritage renovation, 1000km away in Melbourne.
“Let us take you to @heatherbrae1854. Heatherbrae was built in Caulfield, Melbourne in 1854,” she said in the caption.
“Julie and Vince are coming to the end of the first stage of their renovation of the 20-room mansion.
“They have done a lot of the work themselves and it’s truly extraordinary.”
Eddy previously revealed to realcommercial.com.au that there were “serious leaks in the roof”.
“We sustained damage to our floors through a big leak in one of the skylights, we lost of couple of windows during a hail storm, and the plaster in one room is literally crumbling off the wall,” she said.
“As a result, we’ve had to up the pool of funds we allocated to cover any more surprises!”
As well as being in touch with the Heatherbrae renovators, Eddy has connected with others internationally, who are also undergoing heritage renovations.
“So many people have started reaching out to us after reading about the project … and through following our videos on social media,” she said.
“From homes in France to pubs in the UK to historic homes in Melbourne, we’re now following a number of couples doing exactly what we are doing around the world.”
