Sydney baker Gabriela Oporto reveals cake orders of stars Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles during Aussie shows

Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran were so impressed by Sydney baker Gabriela Oporto’s sweet treats, they recommended her to pop pal Taylor Swift during the star’s recent Eras Tour on the East Coast.

The founder of Bakealicious By Gabriela, who some say offers the “Best Sydney Cakes”, has been busy whipping up Easter orders in time for the long weekend after she revealed her famous fans in February.

“I had the pleasure of baking for Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles philosophy. And that’s why Taylor came through this year, because the same people organising the food last year were the ones organising it this year,” she said.

After some “very good feedback” from her British customers in 2023, word of mouth spread to the Cruel Summer singer.

The “baker to the stars” said Swift requested “a selection of baked goods” to satisfy her team’s various dietary requirements.

Her range of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan products went down a treat with the performer’s entourage.

After researching Swift’s favourite colour — purple — Ms Oporto added the Latin confectionary favourite dulce de leche, as well as buttercream, to her layered sponge cake.

The popular baker is now selling the sumptuous dessert — dubbed “Bakealicious Eras Cake” — for $65.

She admitted her Chilean background came in handy when preparing sweet treats for Styles and Sheeran.

“I did a Scrumptious Chocolate Cake, with a South American twist, “ she said.

“And then they actually requested a few Australian favourites. So we made rocky road and Lamingtons.”

For home cooks or families keen to embrace the Easter spirit, Ms Oporto suggested it’s possible to be creative without aiming too high — claiming “packet mixes” are an easy option.

“If you’re looking for that quick dessert you could even buy the $10 Woolworths or Coles cakes, share it with your family and decorate it in so many different ways,” she suggested.

“With Easter eggs, you can cut them, you can put sprinkles, you could just melt some chocolate and drizzle it on top.”

While Hot Cross Buns may be the traditional favourite, there’s room for more than one sweet option this long weekend.

Ms Oporto said the joy was in taking “base creations and making it personalised with fun accessories”.

Sadly for Perth fans, you’ll have to travel coast-to-coast to experience her delectable desserts.
