A lucky Sydney man who won $3m in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto draw woke up on Wednesday morning oblivious to his new multi-millionaire status.
The inner-city Sydney man, who held the only division one winning entry in the draw, only discovered his windfall when Oz Lotto contacted him on Wednesday to tell him he had won the entire $3m jackpot.
“Oh my god!” the man reacted.
“I won it all? By myself?
“I can’t believe it! I was the only division one winner?!”
The man, who won on a 50-game QuickPick that he bought at Queens Square Newsagency on Macquarie St in Sydney, said he kept playing because he always had a firm belief he would win one day.
“I kept using my little wins to buy the next ticket,” he said.
“I thought, as long as I keep winning something, I’ll keep reinvesting it into the next ticket.
“It’s so lucky I did random numbers. I was thinking about sticking to the same numbers, but then I thought it was best to stick to random numbers so that’s why I got QuickPicks.
“I’ve always told myself, if I win the lottery, I have my children at the top of my list. This will be an enormous help to my family.”
Peter Wang, owner of Queens Square Newsagency, said he was excited to have sold the ticket.
“That lucky ticket was sold from my own hands!” he said.
“I’ve been selling lottery tickets for more than 20 years and I’m happy to have helped changed my winning customers’ lives.
“I wish this winner all the very best with their prize.”
