Talbots expands to Mexico

Talbots parent company KnitWell Group announced on Monday a strategic partnership with Liverpool, Mexico’s leading department store, to introduce the iconic American apparel brand to the Mexican market for the first time.

As part of the partnership, Liverpool will roll out ten Talbots ‘shop in shop’ locations within their stores in and around Mexico City this month. The expansion marks the first time the brand will be found outside the United States and Canada. 

Each location will feature a carefully curated selection of Talbots’ apparel, including dresses, sportswear pieces, and timeless favorites like the Chatham pant and the Charming cardigan. The presentation will also highlight Talbots’ signature prints and vibrant colors, catering to the Mexican consumer.

“The KnitWell Group has widely known brands with incredibly loyal customers that generate strong results. We know there is even greater runway for growth by expanding our reach internationally and our partnership with Liverpool is an important first step,” said Deirdre FitzGerald, president of International for KnitWell Group. 

“Mexico is a very influential market that knows the Talbots brand well and we are grateful to have Liverpool, a best-in-class organization and business partner, to navigate this new opportunity.”

In August, New York-based investment firm Sycamore Partners launched Knitwell Group, as a new holding company comprising apparel brands Ann Taylor, Loft, and Talbots. Together, the three brands generate more than $3 billion in annual sales. KnitWell also provides oversight and shared services to Lane Bryant, a plus-size women’s apparel brand.
