Taylor Swift smashes ARIA records and takes out top 10 Australian singles chart

Swiftmania is once again in full force with the pop megastar shattering a host of ARIA records and taking out the entire top 10 on the Australian singles chart.

Taylor Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department has raced to the top of the ARIA album charts meaning the 34-year-old now holds the record for the most chart-topping albums in Australian history for a female artist.

Swift overtook Madonna and now ranks third on the list of acts with the most chart-topping albums in the country.

Only The Beatles with 14 and Jimmy Barnes with 15 can claim more No.1 albums.

Lead track Fortnight, which features Post Malone, tops the singles chart, landing Swift her 12th No.1 ARIA single.

And by taking out the other remaining spots on the top 10, she is also the first artist to hold the entire top 10 on the singles chart with Hozier at number 11 with Too Sweet.

A week after its release Poets is also the most-sold album on vinyl and the most-streamed album in ARIA history.

Last week, Spotify said it had already surpassed one billion streams.

Swift released the first 16 songs of the album on April 19. Two hours later, she surprised fans by revealing it was a double album with 15 more tracks.

Swift will resume her Eras Tour, the highest-grossing concert tour in history, in Paris in May.
