A teacher at E.J. Marshall Elementary School in Chino was arrested on suspicion of physically assaulting a student in a classroom earlier this week, authorities said.
A Chino police school resource officer went to the school at 12045 Telephone Ave. on Monday in response to a call of an assault on a student, according to a police statement.
The student wasn’t hospitalized, Chino police Sgt. Frank Acuña said.
Citing the ongoing investigation, Acuña did not say what led to the alleged assault or release the gender or age of the student.
The teacher, 62-year-old Ray Anthony Crummitt of West Covina, was arrested shortly after 3 p.m. Monday. He was cited for misdemeanor child endangerment and released from custody early Tuesday morning, booking records show.
The Chino Valley Unified School District placed Crummitt on administrative leave, police said.
A district spokeswoman declined to provide any specifics on the case.
Crummitt could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
