Teen abortion Bill: Doctors ‘not limited’ from gaining parent consent for girls aged under 16

Doctors faced with a young girl asking for an abortion will still be able to seek the consent of her parents when appropriate under proposed new laws, Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson says.

The Bill being introduced in State Parliament next week provides girls aged under 16 with the power to ask medical practitioners for a pregnancy termination without having to consult their parents or guardian.
