The Chase star Anne Hegerty has wowed in a glamorous photoshoot – appearing almost unrecognisable from the TV persona fans know and love.
As she traded her traditionally sombre shirt and jacket for a vibrant, sequinned ensemble for New Idea, viewers said the beloved Channel 7 star “couldn’t have been more different” to her alter ego as “The Governess”.

In a candid chat with the publication, Hegerty made a confession.
“My dirty little secret is that I wanted to be famous right from childhood,” she said as she had her hair and makeup done.
“I just wanted to be famous as ‘something’. My grandfather worked for a publisher. I thought, ‘I want to be able to do this.’ I couldn’t… I’m not a very good writer. So I decided I’d be a famous singer, then a famous actress.”
While her acting dreams may not have eventuated quite as she imagined, she asserts that she “likes being famous” as a result of her major role on The Chase Australia – the TV quiz show she has starred in since 2015.
While viewers know and love her as “The Governess”, Hegerty revealed she almost had a different nickname – “The Headmistress” – but she wasn’t keen on it.
“The Governess has more freedom than a headmistress,” Hegerty told the publication.
“A headmistress has got a board of governors breathing down her neck. A governess just makes her role whatever she wants it to be.”
It’s the second time Hegerty has wowed with a different look in recent weeks.
In July, she also looked different as she sat down for a chat on The Morning Show.
But talking to hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies at TMS studios Hegerty looked almost unrecognisable in more casual attire.
The 64-year-old wore a fashionable cobalt blue shirt and bright lipstick, her hair relaxed and slightly curled.
During her interview, Hegerty said she was loving her look for the TMS cameras.
“My hair looks rather good at the moment,” she said.
“Normally it doesn’t look this good because I haven’t got a nice make-up lady doing it.”
Hegerty said she often gets spotted in the street, despite looking different to her TV persona.
“Even when I’ve just washed it, people still seem to recognise me,” she said.
