NFL legend Tom Brady reached out to ex-wife Gisele Bündchen to apologize for some of the jokes made about their relationship after his Netflix roast, US Weekly reports.
During the roast — live-streamed last Sunday — comedians including Kevin Hart, Jeff Ross and Nikki Glaser made jokes about the seven-time Super Bowl Champion’s divorce.
“Gisele and Tom had a ‘no disparaging remarks’ rule when it came to speaking about each other or their marriage and divorce. She is definitely offended and upset about the comments made at the roast,” a source told US Weekly.
Bündchen, 43, divorced Brady, 46, in 2022 during his final NFL season. They have two children together. The jokes surrounding their divorce also brought up the rumors that Bündchen left Brady for her longtime jiu-jitsu coach, Joaquim Valente.
According to the report, Bündchen “understood the territory that comes with a roast, but thought her new relationship with Valente should be off-limits.”
“Tom did reach out to Gisele to apologize to her,” the source told US Weekly. “They are cordial and only communicate about the kids.”
Glaser joked about Bündchen and Valente during the roast, telling Brady:
“You have seven rings — well, eight, now that Gisele gave hers back. The only thing dumber than saying yes to this roast was when you said: ‘Hey babe, you should try jiu-jitsu.’”
According to a BuzzFeed report, Glaser said she would apologize to Bündchen if she ever sees her, but added: “You had to go there. It was a roast.”
In addition to winning seven Super Bowls in his 23 seasons in the NFL, Brady was a five-time Super Bowl MVP, three-time league MVP, and boasted the most passing yards and touchdowns in NFL history — both in the regular season and playoffs.
