Travelodge has six new hotels in Spain – and you can stay from £35 per night

KNOWN as the “UK’s first budget hotel brand”, Travelodge is expanding in one of Brits’ favourite countries to visit.

What makes it even better is that the prices in Spain are similar to those in the UK, with rooms starting from just £35 per night.

Travelodge has added six Spanish hotels to its lineup, for a total of 773 rooms in the European country.

The six hotels are in Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia, and the budget-friendly chain claims they have “everything on their doorstep”.

The Travelodge Barcelona Poblenou is in the centre of Barcelona’s Poblenou neighbourhood.

The hotel is near the seaside and well-known tourist destinations such as the Gothic Quarter and Sagrada Familia.

For the sunseekers, the Travelodge Valencia Aeropuerto is close to Valencia’s coastline and city centre.

As in the UK, the standard rooms can sleep up to four people and all feature a TV, small desk with chair, shower, and toiletries.

Travelodge welcomes more than 22 million guests every year, and most of them are rated four stars or above on TripAdvisor.

The hotel chain recently acquired six more hotels in Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and Murcia.

Travelodge’s CEO, Jo Boydell, said: “Spain is an important market for us, with an established presence of six hotels and an experienced local management team.

“Last year we identified the top 20 key markets to open a new hotel in Spain, where there is currently a shortage of good quality, low cost, branded accommodation to meet the needs of business and leisure guests.”

However, the deals and expansions don’t end there, as Travelodge has opened its 600th hotel almost 40 years after launching its first-ever budget accommodation.

The London Oval Cricket Ground Travelodge is a 95-room hotel developed in partnership with Surrey County Cricket Club.
