WA man windsurfing bitten by shark at Wedge Island north of Lancelin

A man has been transferred to Joondalup Hospital after suffering a shark bite north of Lancelin.

On Sunday at about 3pm, while windsurfing the man was attacked by a shark at Wedge Island.

He remains in a stable condition and has been transferred to Joondalup Hospital.

The species of the shark is unknown.

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are currently working with local authorities to coordinate a response.

The WA Government is urging beachgoers to adhere to beach closures advised by Local Government Rangers, Parks and Wildlife Service officers or Surf Life Saving WA.
