WA Police bomb squad demonstrations among new attractions at 2024 Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest

There won’t be a dull moment at this year’s Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest, with new attractions guaranteeing attendees will have a blast.

WA Police are joining in the fun for 2024, running a careers expo across Saturday and Sunday at Keith Holmes Reserve where bomb squad officers will deliver live action demonstrations.

Officers will also be demonstrating the latest technology used to fight crime and there will be opportunities to climb aboard a WA Water Police vessel.

The police recruiting team will be on hand to answer questions about a career in blue.

There will be plenty to keep children entertained across the weekend, from a splash zone to roving entertainers, with the Family Zone in Mandjar Square the place to be for kids.

Budding scientists can check out displays from Scitech — a new addition for 2024 — where they can make discoveries and learn more about the world.

The Family Zone will include a dedicated children’s stage featuring a host of performances across the weekend, including Magic Dale’s interactive magic show, local pop singer-songwriter Bailey Perrie, a hip-hop dance workshop and Meadow Springs Primary School students.

Families will also love the return of the popular Spudshed Yellow Brick Road and fan favourite Fat Cat will be making appearances throughout the event.

The fireworks display will take to the sky on Saturday from 8.30pm from a different location than last year, with the best viewing along the Eastern Foreshore all the way to Stingray Point reserve.

Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams said the Crab Fest program was designed to delight all ages and interests.

“We’re gearing up for an action-packed Crab Fest weekend, with a massive program of events, entertainment and activities free for the whole family,” Mr Williams said.

“We’re also excited to welcome the WA Police Force careers expo to Mandurah this year, where you can find out about joining the force and enjoy live action demonstrations.

“We’re proud to deliver this free family event with something to do for everyone, right here in Australia’s top tourism town.”
