Walmart Health announces plans to close all 51 locations across 5 states

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Walmart Health has announced its plans to close all its locations and virtual care, according to a news release.

The retail giant launched the health centers in 2019 but said on Tuesday that it learned through managing them “there is not a sustainable business model for us to continue.”

Walmart had 51 health centers in five states and said the decision to shutter them, as well as Walmart Health Virtual Care, was not easy.

“This is a difficult decision, and like others, the challenging reimbursement environment and escalating operating costs create a lack of profitability that make the care business unsustainable for us at this time,” Walmart said.
