Dramatic, romantic and lush, Elgar’s Violin Concerto fired a hometown boilover with soloist Laurence Jackson, WA Symphony Orchestra and conductor Alpesh Chauhan at Perth Concert Hall on Friday.

Mellow lines rolled out over rumbling timpani settled on clarinet to cool the mood; stirring again then fading to welcome Jackson, the WASO concertmaster.
