The Prince and Princess of Wales marked their 13th wedding anniversary on Monday by releasing an unseen portrait from their big day, which shows for the first time William’s secret change of uniform.
The picture captures the couple in the Bow Room at Buckingham Palace and was one of a series of non-official images taken by Millie Pilkington for their own personal use.
Kate had remained until the evening in her white lace dress but William did a quick change out of the red ceremonial Irish Guards tunic which Queen Elizabeth had insisted on.
Instead he wore a new Irish Guards uniform of gold and black, a glimpse of which was seen when he drove his bride away in his father’s Aston Martin but has never been fully viewed until now.
The picture was captioned: ‘13 years ago today!’

Admitting to the blunder and subsequently apologising, Kate has since abstained from honing her editing skills in the public eye.
The 42-year-old mother of three is continuing her recovery from major abdominal surgery in January.
She is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for the cancer that doctors subsequently discovered and is on leave from public royal duties.
