Would You Cough Up $100,000 For This BMW E46 M3?

  • This BMW M3 has been driven just 11,651 miles and looks immaculate.
  • BMW of Eugene in Oregon is selling the car and notes it has had a single owner since new.
  • Powering the E46 M3 is a 3.2-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder with 333 hp.

I’ve had a soft spot for the E46 BMW M3 for a long time. When I was a young kid, my neighbor owned a Phoenix Yellow one and I would stare at it for hours, fascinated by the speedometer going up to 300 km/h (186 mph). I would love to own one someday but even I would struggle to justify paying $99,999 for this low-mileage 2002 M3.

This M3 is available from BMW of Eugene in Oregon and is finished in Imola Red. While it is 22 years old, it has only ever been driven 11,651 miles (18,750 km), which is incredibly low for a car like this, and the main reason why it is so expensive.

As is often the case with used cars listed for sale through dealerships, very little information is provided about this M3’s history. All we know is that it has had just one owner since new and that it comes with a clean Carfax report. The car looks to be in excellent condition in the photos, including the paint which, despite being bright red, doesn’t show obvious signs of fading. Of course, it is hard to judge a car’s condition through photos alone but it looks clean.

The cabin also appears to have been well-maintained over the past two decades. Sure, the leather seat bolsters have some wrinkles but that’s not the end of the world. The black plastic and other leather components throughout the cabin appear in good condition and show minimal signs of wear.

Anyone interested in this M3 would be wise to look at its service history to ensure everything checks out. If it has been well-maintained, it should offer plenty of trouble-free miles. If not, any potential owner should set aside some money that might be needed for maintenance.
