Young shines as Kuwait Club claims Federation Cup bronze

KUWAIT CITY, May 22: The Kuwait Club’s first basketball team secured third place in the Federation Cup competition by defeating Al-Qurain 111-94 at the Al-Ittihad Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. Kuwait Club’s victory was marked by relative dominance throughout most of the game, with contributions from nearly all players. Notably, American professional “Commander” Michael Young excelled, scoring 24 points.

In related news, the basketball teams of Kuwait Club and Kazma will depart today for Doha, Qatar, to participate in the Asian Basketball League Championship for West and Central Asia, known as the “Super League,” starting on May 25.

The draw placed Kuwait and Kazma in the second group alongside Iran’s Shahrdari Gorgan and India’s Tamil Nadu. The first group includes Lebanon’s Athletic Club, Bahrain’s Manama, Lebanon’s Al-Hikma, and Kazakhstan’s BC Astana.

According to the tournament format, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The finalists will earn two tickets to participate in the Asian Basketball Champions League, scheduled to be held from June 9 to 15 in Dubai, UAE.
