DOHA, April 24: The coach of Kuwait’s under-23 soccer team, Emilio Peixe from Portugal, expressed his satisfaction with Al-Azraq’s recent victory against Malaysia, securing a 2-1 win in their final match of the Asian Cup held in Doha. Despite failing to advance to the tournament’s quarter-finals, Peixe remained optimistic about the team’s potential.
Speaking at a press conference following the match, Peixe emphasized the need for the national team players to gain experience to achieve more victories. He highlighted their talent while underscoring the importance of player development to enhance performance on the field.
Peixe stated that his primary goal at the tournament was to elevate the players’ skill levels and showcase the best possible representation of the Kuwaiti national team.
Meanwhile, national team player Talal Al-Qaisi expressed disappointment over the team’s inability to progress to the quarter-finals of the Asian Championship. He stressed the importance of focusing on future endeavors and striving for positive outcomes.
Al-Qaisi extended gratitude to the organizers of the AFC U-23 Cup for their hospitality and warm welcome.
In other tournament news, the quarter-finals commence today with two matches. The Qatari team will face off against Japan in the first match at 5:30 pm, followed by a clash between South Korea and Indonesia at 8:30 pm.
