Police scramble after car stolen with child inside

An urgent search is under way after a car was stolen with a young child inside in Melbourne’s east.

The child was inside a black Kia Carnival that was parked on Cleeland Street in Dandenong when it was stolen at 3.25pm on Monday.

“The exact circumstances are yet to be determined but the vehicle was parked with the two-year-old child in the rear seat when it was stolen,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

Police have appealed to the public that if they see the black Kia Carnival with registration 1WU5QT to immediately call triple-0.

Witnesses say they saw the vehicle driving towards Heatherton Road.

Anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage, information or who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
