Premier Roger Cook backs allowing local councils to decide on Australia Day ceremonies

Premier Roger Cook says he is comfortable with local councils making their own decisions on whether to hold Australia Day citizenship ceremonies on January 26.

The Albanese Government gave councils the option of moving their ceremonies to within three days before and after the public holiday, as the patriotic day — which marks the landing of the First Fleet — becomes an increasingly divisive issue.
